Rubicon Brewing Company will be hosting a pre-party for the release of the new Movie Beer Wars set to open on April 16th at many local theaters. The Rubicon will be hosting brewery tours, serving beer crafted by the breweries portrayed in the movie, and pouring their own locally made brew. Glynn Phillips the owner of the Rubicon was quoted as saying ”its about time the Craft Brew Industry went main stream and got some recognition.” The festivities will begin around 4pm and continue till closing.

UPDATE: The Charlotte Beer Club movie event at The Flying Saucer is NOW renting a party bus to take us from The Flying Saucer at 7:15pm to the movie theater in Concord Mills, then returning to The Saucer after the live event. Highland Brewery is sponsoring the bus and there will be plenty of great beer on the bus from Highland and other breweries as well. There is a $5 cash charge for the bus ride. You must sign up in advance (NOW) at the bar for the bus (limited to 40 passengers)
After the April 16th, 8 PM showing of “Beer Wars,” the Union Square branch of Heartland Brewery will offer its craft beers at half-price to any attendees of the movie who show a ticket stub proving they attended the screening. There will also be a designated area for attendees to drink and, if interested, chat with others who saw the film, including Heartland Brewery Brewmaster Kelly Taylor.
