ONE NIGHT ONLY

We’re 20 days from Beer Wars LIVE and while we have tons of buzz out there, it’s not translating into ticket sales. Not yet. I know that people aren’t used to buying tickets for movies until the last minute, but let explain why I think it’s important to buy in advance. This is a one night event, which it means that if you want in, you should plan ahead. In some markets we have a limited number of seats available. In others we may be able to add more if demand exists. Buying ahead sends a message that the groundswell has begun.

Remember that NCM Fathom bet big on interest from the beer community. They’re the same people who bring the Metropolitan Opera and This American Life into theatres. Let’s show them that this event is garnering the same type of support.

So… please, if at all possible, support this event by going to fathomevents.com and buy your tickets today.

Got my tickets already. I am surprised to hear of low ticket sales. I pledge to do whatever I can to spread the word!!!

Looks like most of the theaters you’re showing at are chains in the suburbs. Seems like you’re missing the core market for microbrews (city dwelling 25-40 residents) and also not being consistent by screening primarily in large chains rather than in independent or smaller chains. Most appropriate would be to screen in theaters where beer is sold (Landmark & McMenamins are two good examples). Hope there’s a way to get more independents in cities involved. I know I’m not heading out to a chain in the suburbs to hear about the dominance of large corporate behemoths.

I so badly wish I could go to this but I will be on a cruise ship in the middle of nowhere. I’m hoping it will come to DVD. I can’t believe people aren’t buying tickets!!

  4. J Stamets says:

I may still go, but the sixteen bucks is what is likely keeping the event from transating into ticket sales. I know it cooled my enthusiasm.

If you want more people to go, I seriously suggest dropping Ben Stein… honestly, if he doesn’t believe in the evolution of humans, how could he believe in the evolution of beer?

This movie isn’t even playing within a two hour drive of my home town, and on a weeknight! I’d more than likely make the drive to Vegas is it were playing on the weekend.

The one night only format stinks, I’d love to see it and can only hope that it will shortly be available on DVD…

  7. Patrick says:

Would love to go but it isnt playing within an hour of my house. If it were on a friday or sat I woul definately go. Hopefully it comes out on DVD.

20 days! I just got this today (the 14th)!! I’m a judge in our state ‘speach and debate’ championship one the 16th! I might have to cancel everything!!!! Ya gotta get the message out sooner!

The Cupertino AMC let their patrons sit waiting for the start of the movie for over an hour with the preview loop playing until they told us that their satellite stream got messed up and the hard drive on the recorder broke. They gave us refunds and a free pass, like that matters with a one night only showing. Pissed…

I too went to the theater (Cinemark, Harker Heights, Texas) and sat there for an hour with the loop playing (but no video). They finally got the movie rolling, however sat through another 30 minutes of preview loop. The movie finally starts and got 10 minutes into it when the projector quit. The theater folk blamed it on the Fathom Events folks, but I’m pretty sure they weren’t too competent. Yeah, we got our money back, but we’re pissed too! Looking forward to the DVD. We appreciate the effort and the idea for the movie. Can’t wait to see it.

Oenophiles have SIDEWAYS and BOTTLE SHOCK; now their beer-loving counterparts can claim a film as their own.
- Rotten Tomatoes
A David and Goliath story pitting the country's smallest brewers against the largest.
- CNN
Beer Wars: Brewed in America, is an eye-opening, funny and righteously infuriating documentary by first-time filmmaker Anat Baron. Her film (think of it as Suds: A Love Story) is also a pretty damning indictment of not just the beer industry but contemporary unfettered unregulated capitalism's disturbing excesses.
- Box Office Magazine
In Beer Wars, entrepreneurialism and opportunity go awry when tainted by greed and a thirst for power.
- Los Angeles Times
Beer Wars certainly raises some interesting questions, the most potent of which is, is this what capitalism is meant to be?
- New Times
For those who are keeping the American dream alive, this spirited documentary raises a toast.
- St Louis Post-Dispatch
A trenchant analysis unapologetic in its rebuke of Big Beer, Beer Wars is heartily recommended for patrons already inclined to opt for the local brew at every tap. It will also appeal to patrons interested in craft foods as well as homebrewed beer and wine and others particular about quality.
